Double success for Kliklok- Woodman
January 11, 2006
Kliklok-Woodman will soon be installing an automatic bag-in-box cartoning line at Sanitarium Health Foods in New South Wales, Australia, to replace their existing hand-load operation. At the same time, K-W is also supplying Sanitarium's New Zealand plant with a similar application.
Sanitarium had a need to consolidate their cereal lines, and in Australia they chose the Kliklok SFR end load cartoning machine - mainly due to the phasing system enabling quick & easy size change. With eight different carton sizes to deal with on one machine, this was of particular benefit to Sanitarium.
The Australian line comprises an elevating conveyor onto which filled bags of cereal are dropped, through to the Kliklok SFR end load, inserting & closing at up to 100 cartons per minute.
At Sanitarium's New Zealand plant in Auckland, Kliklok have supplied their CCI end load cartoner, a compact intermittent machine running at up to 40 cartons per minute. This machine offers Sanitarium a cost-effective solution with the ability to accommodate their wide range of carton sizes. As with the Australian order, the end load machine is integrated with a bag conditioning system to settle the contents of each bag prior to carton insertion on the CCI.
The SFR is equipped with Kliklok's patented rotary carton feeding mechanism, and the CCI uses a reciprocating feed geometry - both systems positively pull, rather than sweep, the carton out of the hopper gate and transfer the carton into the carton carrying flight chains in the same direction as the carton chain travel. In doing so, it gently pulls the carton into shape - reducing damage to the cartons.
